Lip Product Collection (or hoard) Part One

Somehow over the past five or six years that I have been obsessed with all things beauty-related, I have accumulated quite an impressive (or embarrassing, depending on how you look at it) stash of cosmetics. One of the biggest components of my collection would definitely be my lipsticks, lip glosses, and other lip products. It has been quite awhile since I have gone through my lip products, so I recently decided to take inventory of what I have. In doing so, I discovered some products that I forgot I even had, as well as some that were in desperate need of throwing away. To make these posts shorter and more organized, I decided to do them based on shade. This particular post consists of red lip products, which I have found that I have quite a lot of (probably too much for one person).
Here are the swatches of all of them so you can see what they look like!
From left to right: Ravish Me Red (654) Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, Finale (095) Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick, Candy Apple (035) Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter, Strawberry Suede (005) Revlon Matte Lipstick, Really Red (006) Revlon Matte Lipstick, In the Red (007) Revlon Matte Lipstick, Fashionista (080) Revlon Ultimate Suede Lipstick, Hot Red (519A) Wet 'n' Wild Lipstick, Sheer Red (309) NYC Lipstick, Red Revival (645) Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick, Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine Lipstick (no color or number label, sorry!), and Red Velvet (910D) Wet 'n' Wild Matte Lipstick
From left to right: Cherry Ice (012) Revlon Colorburst Lipstick, Crimson (095) Revlon Colorburst Lipstick, 909D Wet 'n' Wild Lipstick, True Red (090) Revlon Colorburst Lipstick, Plush Red (126) NYX Megashine Lip Gloss, Flirty Kiss (2) Mirenesse Glossy Kiss, 'Cherry Flip' Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Cream, and Romantic (045) Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

From the looks of my red lip product collection, I tend to have a sort of obsession with Revlon products. This doesn't surprise me, as Revlon is one of my favorite makeup brands out there...I just wasn't prepared to see the amount of products that I actually own by them. Swatching all of my lip products (starting with the reds...I didn't want to overwhelm myself or you by doing all of them at once!) has shown me what I actually have and was fun because it was like shopping my stash. Now I have some products in mind that I want to start using more, like the Buxom lip cream (it cost me $19, so I better start using it more!). Next I will be checking out what my pink/coral lip product collection looks like, and I'll be sure to share it with you!

I have been an avid watcher of 'Beauty Gurus' on YouTube for several years now. I watch lots of gurus who are from the United States, but a few of my favorite girls happen to be from England. For awhile, I kept hearing quite a buzz around the Rimmel Apocalips, a lip product that claims to have "the intense rich color of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine." I became very interested in owning one of these products. There was one big problem, however: they were only available in the UK. Recently, I started hearing several gurus talk about a new lip product by Rimmel (available in the United States) that looked identical to the Apocalips, and also boasted the same claims as the product I once coveted so much. Everything about these two products are the same, except for the name. The United States now sells Rimmel Show Off. While the name isn't quite as cool and catchy as the one in the United Kingdom, it is essentially the same product, which meant that I had to have it.
A few weeks ago, I acquired one of the Rimmel Show Off  Lip Lacquers in the shade 'Stellar.' I found a whole display of them at Walgreen's, and though I was very tempted to grab nearly every shade available, I decided to buy only one in order to see if I even like it. I quite like the packaging, as the colors are simple, and half of the tube is clear in order to show you what the actual color of the product looks like. The wand is interesting, as it is not your typical sponge applicator; it has a hollow tube that seems to collect the product in order to better control how much actually goes onto your lips. I liked this when I applied it, as it seemed to allow the perfect amount to coat both of my lips, without going overboard.

The color itself is what I would (probably inaccurately) describe as a bright and warm coral-pink. I have been really into corals lately, so this shade immediately caught my eye. Below are some pictures showing what the color looks like swatched, as well as what it actually looks like on the lips.

This is the look I had when I tried it out for the first time. I was pretty happy with the results.
Try your best to ignore the 90s hip hop-esque braids. I am going for a boho, beachy waves look that requires me to look like this for several hours.
Both of these photos are from today. I feel like this lip color works best with a subtle eye look, since the color is so bold and bright.

Overall, I am very happy with the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers. The consistency is nice; it has a sheen like a gloss, but it is not sticky at all. It feels like a lipstick on the lips, and it's actually easy to forget that you're even wearing it at all after awhile. Because it is not a stain, however, you need to remember that it will rub off if you eat or drink with it on, and reapplication is probably recommended after a few hours.

Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone Eyeshadow Look

Hello!
This is my first blog post ever, so forgive me for the quality of the photos; I'm a newbie! I had the day off, so I decided to explore my makeup collection and use some items that I haven't really played with before. I pulled out my Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone palette, which has been raved about all over the makeup blog community, as well as on YouTube. I had heard that there is a shade in this palette that is comparable to MAC's 'Club', which is one that I had been contemplating purchasing for awhile now. After swatching the supposed dupe, I was pleasantly surprised, and decided to use it. After blending a dark brown eyeshadow from NYX in with it, I was somewhat pleased with the result. Because the Wet 'n' Wild color is so intense, pigmented, and dark, it was a bit harder for me to work with. I am definitely NOT  makeup artist and I usually stick to lighter, more neutral eyeshadows on an everyday basis. I am just starting to explore more with bold shades, so this was a good practice run for me. Here is the finished look:

These are all of the products that I used on my face, as well as on my eyes for this look (complete with product names listed below them):

-Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (oil free) in shade Nude
-Revlon Colorstay foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in shade 110 Ivory mixed with Rimmel Stay Matte foundation in shade 103 True Ivory (the Rimmel foundation comes out a lot darker than the shade description implies)

-Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer in shade Ivory (Light 2-3)
-MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW20
-Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in shade Cream (Light 4-5)
-Wet ‘n’ Wild Coloricon Bronzer in shade 743A Reserve Your Cabana (used as a highlighter)
-Benefit Hoola bronzer from the Cabana Glama palette
-ELF Studio Blush in Mellow Mauve

I wasn't really sure of what to do with my lips, and i wasn't really a fan of the combination of Wet 'n' Wild lipsticks that I applied. I am still learning what lip colors go well with certain eye looks, so hopefully I will find a suitable shade for this look soon.
I hope to start posting more on here! I already have a couple of posts in the works, so check back soon! Thanks for reading :)
